About Me

My name is Dr Chanelle Myrie and I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. I am registered with the HCPC, and I currently work predominantly in the NHS supporting adults who have experienced mental health challenges. I often work with people who have experienced trauma, sadness, worries or general world weariness. I use a variety of therapeutic models and approaches, particularly those drawing from narrative, cognitive and systemic principles.

Running in parallel to my clinical work is my commitment to improving the accessibility and experience of people from Black communities accessing support for their mental health. This has included designing and carrying out research projects, working alongside organisations as a consultant/advisor, delivering teaching sessions, media work and more. Please click here to see a selection of the work I have done outside of my clinical practice, and you can contact me below if you would like to know more.

What is therapy like? How do I know if I need it?

Therapy is an opportunity to meet with a trained professional to discuss how you are, and how you would like to be. My sessions take place in a private space, and last for 50 minutes. It might be that we meet only a handful of times, or for a longer time period. You might want to meet with me for an initial session, after which I can I help you think through a range of options, which may or may not involve further sessions.

How much do you charge?

This depends on a number of factors – for example whether I am working with an individual or an organisation, or for a distinct project/event. For reference though, individual therapy sessions cost £140 per 50 minute session. I have a limited number of reduced fee sessions for those who need it – do get in touch if this is necessary for you.

Where are you based?

I see clients for face to face therapy in my office in Loughborough Junction, London (SW9). My office is approximately 15 mins walk from Brixton, and has bus and train connections. I also offer virtual therapy sessions.

How many sessions do I have to commit to?

Ultimately this is up to you – we can have a discussion about how many times we think would be useful to meet once I get an understanding of what you would like to focus on. I like to review how you are finding therapy after an agreed amount of sessions, and use that discussion to help guide how many more times we will meet.

Alternatively, you might decide that rather than meeting for a set amount of sessions, you would like to meet with me on a ‘ad hoc’ basis, when you feel it would be most useful to speak to someone. I have some limited availability to meet with people in this way, let me know if this is something you would like to explore.
